I’ve explored a lot of Racine and its surrounding communities since I first connected with native and local travel expert, Miranda Knudtson, back in October. As a fellow blogger and Instagrammer, Miranda knows all of the most iconic Racine landmarks to hit when you only have a short time to explore and want to come away with some amazing content! After a few exciting adventures, I’ve noted three types of photo-ops to take advantage of if you find yourself in Racine and where to find them.
1. Lake views
The City of Racine is conveniently situated along the western shores of Lake Michigan, which makes for beautiful views year-round. Whether you stop by for a harbor walk in the summer or a windy stroll in the winter, you can be sure to have the perfect backdrop for an outdoor shot.
- Wind Point Lighthouse (4725 Lighthouse Drive)
- ReefPoint Marina (2 Christopher Columbus Causeway)
You’ll find beautiful trees all over Wisconsin, and Racine is no exception. Parks are scattered throughout the city, especially alongside the Root River that runs straight through the heart of Racine.
- River Bend Nature Center (3600 N Green Bay Road)
- Island Park (1700 Liberty Street)
There is an artistic renaissance happening in Racine, especially among street artists decorating neighborhoods with brightly colored murals. Some pieces highlight Racine’s unique history, while others are reactions to more recent political events and social movements. All are inspiring and make for the perfect addition to your Instagram feed!
