While big cities, large crowds, and loud concerts are not usually my forte, I made an exception earlier this summer to visit Summerfest with Tyler as long as we could also stop for a hike next door at Lakeshore State Park. Hidden in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s only urban state park spans around 22 acres and is home to a variety of coastal species.
The park has great trails for hiking, biking, or running, and is the only state park in Wisconsin with free admission. It is just a short walk from some of the city’s most iconic sights and neighborhoods, including Henry W. Maier Festival Park, Discovery World, and the Historic Third Ward.
I had such a great time walking around and was glad to finally visit the state park closest to my home! For being so centrally located, Lakeshore State Park is still off the beaten path and offers a great escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown. What do you enjoy most about Lakeshore State Park?
