Last fall, I visited Basse’s Taste of Country farm in Colgate for the first time ever with Tyler’s family. Located under an hour from Milwaukee, Basse’s ended up being a great spot for us to pick up some pumpkins and other fall goods, as well as watch his little niece have fun with all the games and activities for kids! This year, Basse’s annual Pumpkin Fest runs from September 19th through Halloween. Here’s what you can expect while you’re there!
Getting to Basse's
Basse’s Taste of Country is located along County Line Road right at the border of Washington County and Waukesha County in Colgate. There is a large gravel and grass parking lot onsite. Please visit their website to read their COVID-19 safety plan.
Parking and admission to the general store at Basse’s are free, but there is a cost to explore the attractions at Pumpkin Fest. Tickets can be purchased online or in-person, but note before your visit that the entire facility is cashless. Children under two years old can enter Pumpkin Fest for free. For all other guests, admission costs $12.65 on a weekday and $15.29 throughout the weekend.
Activities for Kids
This place was designed with kids in mind, so children of all ages will easily stay busy! Admission includes access to various playgrounds, ropes courses, arcade-style sports games, sensory experiences, a mini racetrack, and much more. Kids and adults alike can enjoy a photo-op in the giant chair, as well as a walk through the corn maze.
Food & Drink Options
While fall-themed snacks can be purchased right in the general store at the Corn Crib Cafe, those within the Pumpkin Fest grounds also have access to a variety of other food and drink options. The Hill Billy Smoke House, Caramel Apple Wedge Hut, and a variety of food trucks are stationed throughout the Pumpkin Fest grounds.
Basse’s Taste of Country is most fun when visited with children or groups!
